Morning Commute

Rain so fine
I only notice it after
it’s fallen
after my skin softly dampens,
my face kissed all over
by this first whisper
of spring.

The moon sets,
cheese-yellow
and huge.
The wide western mesa
blushes at its touch.
Daylight trills
with light fingers
over the drying ground.
